Nov 05, 2016 Custom PIDs for torque pro app. Discussion in '2nd Gen. Tacomas (2005-2015)' started. A custom PID is a programming file that some smart SOB has made up that can be imported into the Torque app and then it will display info such as what you are talking about. Below are what I have in Torque OBD2 Mode and PID: 2182 Long Name.
Good news!
Torque now supports an easy way to add extended PIDs for any particular model of vehicle to the list of PIDs that you can monitor. This complements the existing custom PID editor so you now have a highly configurable OBD2 tool! If you have access to a list of EOBD PIDs for your vehicle and want to see them added to Torque then drop me a message and I’ll see what I can do!
Here’s a screenshot that shows how easy it now is to configure Torque for your vehicle

First you need to find out if there is a sensor for that on your car. My 2013 Passat has one and it shows up already in the list of available sensors. If there is none you can get nothing. The scan gauge thread as well as a few Torque threads already have some custom PID's defined and you can go from those. Reading/searching is the best way to find these. There is no common set of custom PID's that I know of out there other than the ones I told you about in the threads already. I know very little about the coding of this stuff either but all of my gauges are default with the app except one I found to calculate boost and adjust it for current baro pressure. Good luck! This is mine and all of these are default in the app already. No custom PID's at all. All cars are not equal so make sure that what you read/do is for your car.
If you notice my coolant temp and trans temp are exactly the same and track each other exactly. So I don't know if this is the same temp that VCDS would show when doing a service anyway. I guess I will check it one of these days. My services will be done by runonbeer (the local trusted mechanic) and not me.
